The Man Has Burned But Your Clothes Did Not: Give Them Second Life by Donating Costumes for Dance Marathon
It’s that time of year again. The leaves are changing, the weather is warming, and cars and belongings reemerge into the Bay covered in playa dust. For most of the nation, the passing of Labor Day weekend marks the beginning of a new school year, but for the Bay Area it seems to better represent another Burning Man gone by.
We’re calling on all Burners out there who just can’t face once again packing away their playa dust coated clothing to donate your furs and sparkles to The Dance SF. Project AMPLIFI will collect your used gear (we’re willing to get covered in playa dust so you don’t have to deal with it!), and leave you with the good vibes of knowing that you’re supporting the homeless youth services of At The Crossroads. As a nonprofit organization, we’re also happy to offer a receipt for your tax deductable donation.
And if what you need post-Burn is not to clean out your favorite artful adornments but to wear them and keep the party going, consider joining The Dance SF! This 8 hour dance marathon is happening October 11th from 9am to 5pm at Mighty in San Francisco and will feature some of the Bay Area’s favorite DJ’s, a headlining set by legendary Grandmaster Flash, plus food, yoga, dance classes, and more.
The danceathon supports Project AMPLIFI’s work to create vibrant communities and At The Crossroads’ services supporting homeless youth in the Mission and Tenderloin, and WE WANT YOUR GEAR! Donated party clothes will be washed and available to dancers at the costume making stations so they can fully express themselves while dancing for good.
